David CopperfieldDavid Copperfield, Magician was photographed at Hamilton Place for the Los Angelis Times. Arriving at Hamilton Place to photograph David I was wondering what I would be confronted with for this assignment, but being a magic show there was all sorts of props to work with. Here I utilized a large old fashioned lamp that was used in his show. I was informed earlier by my editor at the Los Angeles Times that David is always concerned about the dark circles under his eyes so I brought along a ring flash to light his face, no more dark circles.

Kristen WiigKristin Wiig of Saturday Night Live fame was photographed in Toronto at the Toronto International Film Festival. There to promote her 2009 movie Whip It. Kristen was photographed for the Los Angeles Times. On these assignments you are literally given ten minutes to get a good portrait but working with professionals like Kristen Wiig, she make's in easy.

Tobin BellActor Tobin Bell photographed at the Toronto International Film Festival for The Los Angeles Times. Tobin Bell is famous for the Saw film franchise. He was a very easy person to work with and was very willing to work together to get a good shot. Actors like Tobin Bell are always fun to work with and makes my job as a photographer very easy.

Nana MouskouriSinger Nana Mouskouri was photographed at the Toronto King Edward Hotel for the Globe and Mail newspaper. Not having an actual appointment to photograph Nana Mouskouri I waited in the lobby for her arrival to a press conference. When Nana Mouskouri appeared with her publicist I stepped up and asked for one minute of her time to get a shot, the publicist balked but Mrs. Mouskouri agreed. This minute of her time allowed me to get a much better shot than I would have got at the press conference.Always great fun to shoot at the King Eddy, great space for photography and such a willing subject.

Tom McCamusActor Tom McCamus was photographed by Peter Tym in Stratford Ontario for the Globe and Mails Art section. Tom McCamus was photographed at the Stratford Festival Theatre and the photograph was later retouched in Photoshop to add the layered affect that you see here. It is exciting to be part of a time where you have so much control over your image making.

Mary Margaret OharaSinger Mary Margaret Ohara was photographed in a Toronto restaurant for the Globe and Mail newspaper. Mary Margaret Ohara was a great subject to photograph and was very collaborative and fun to work with, an artist. It's always easier to work with a person who understands that it is a two way street to get a good shot.

Eddy Vedder Eddy Vedder lead singer for Pearl Jam photographed by Peter Tym at the Toronto International Film Festival for the Los Angeles Times.Eddie Vedder is an American musician, singer and songwriter best known as a member of the grunge band Pearl Jam, with whom he performs lead vocals and is one of three guitarists. He is known for his powerful baritone vocals.

Iain PearsAuthor Iain Pears photographed in Toronto by Peter TymIain Pears is an author from Coventry England who first book was An Instance of the Fingerpost. Always try to find interesting settings for a photograph, you never know what your going to be faced with on arrival. Using the chairs as an element to the composition adds symmetry to the portrait.

Author John le Carre'John le Carre' is an english author of espionage novels. During the 1950's and 1960's worked for the Secret Intelligence Service. His novels such as Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy, One Kind of Traitor and Russia House are only three of many publications. This photograph was taken in the Continental Hotel in downtown Toronto.

Always a rush to go to an arena and photograph these guy's, great showmen.

LifestyleLifestyle image was photographed by Peter Tym in his Toronto Studio. This images was to depict the Luxurious lifestyle of using Wabasso products. A set was built for this shot, the set was painted and eighty percent of the light was coming through the window. The model was hired and the stylist did her magic. Another good lifestyle shot that made the client happy and coming back for more.

The photo was taken using a high key background which makes the model and clothing separate from the background. Always exciting to show up to a location and work out the logistics of a photograph and be able to pull it all together and tell the story of the clients product.

The assignment was on location and all the talented team of hair, makeup and production people must show up and produce different photographs that are suitable to the client.

IndustrialThis is a photograph of a Lab Worker taken by Peter Tym. This photograph tells a story of a part of a manufacturing process to produce industrial mufflers for heavy machinery. As a photographer you have to make mundane activities look interesting and not interfere with the work flow. Only a good knowledge of lighting and your equipment allows you to get the job done the first time.

IndustrialThis is an industrial photograph taken by Peter Tym. It is shot on location in a factory in. This photograph would have been one of many that would have told the story of this companies manufacturing process. Factories are always a challenge but it is a place that I know my way around.

IndustialThis photograph is a composite, the worker was shot in London, Ontario and the background was shot at the Bathurst subway station in Toronto. These photographs were shot by me and composited in Photoshop by me as well. These days photography is not just about lighting and clicking the shutter, you get to play with an image in ways that were not imaginable at the start of my career.

Traci BolandTraci is in the insurance business now but in a previous life she was an international figure skater and coach. This is an example of the interesting people you meet in editorial photography. This portrait of Traci was photographed on the streets of London Ontario, and with most cities you can find terrific backgrounds for portraiture. Any corner has multiple opportunities to make different looking photographs. I love photographing people and I love telling their stories.

Sam NaturThis is a portrait of Sam Natur and he is in the Insurance business.It was great to meet Sam because he gave it his all to collaborate on the shot. I've got to say that I love when this happens because that's when you get a great portrait. This photograph was taken for The Canadian Underwriters Magazine.

Zehr GroupThe Zehr Group are property developers in Kitchener Waterloo Ontario and this photograph was for the local lifestyle magazine The Grand. Never knowing what your going to be up against when you get to a location you have to think on your feet come up with something visually exciting. This location was one of the Zehr Groups properties under construction and the area was a large skeletal structure of aluminum joists waiting for drywall. After a moment of panic I decided to use this structure as an element in my composition and coming up with this picture was a delight.

Christine MageeChristine Magee one of the principle owners of Sleep Country Canada was photographed for advertising content in their marketing campaign. Photographed on a dove grey seamless background makes Christine stand out.

EditorialThis photograph is of a food server at a resort area in New Brunswick. The owner of the resort wanted us to take images for marketing content for a new brochure. I think this photograph is a good example of communicating a clients story and shows the caring and helpful staff who work at the resort.

Peter LiebersonAmerican Composer Peter Lieberson was photographed in a Toronto Hotel for the Globe and Mail newspaper. As is normal when working for editorial news you have mere minutes to get a viable photograph. I managed to get Peter's reflection in the piano while making a visual element out of his sheet music. I love the challenge of an editorial assignment as it makes you think on your feet and is very satisfying work.

Allistair MacLellan Allistair MacLellan is a book binder by trade and produces beautiful books in his garage. The very essence of a small business. This assignment was a challenge because of the small space I was working in. Burt in the end I love this photograph for it's honesty.

Diana FranzDiana Franz is a Canadian actor who is in the midst of finding a path to success. One of the initial things required is a headshot that she can give to Directors when auditioning for a part. Headshots are another avenue for revenue for me in my path to success.

Capt. Richard HepditchCaptain Richard Hepditch is a Kitchener Ontario Fire Captain who relieve job related stress by practising Yoga. One of the many assignments that I do that brings me closer to the community and it's people. Here Richard is pictured in front of a fire truck with his axe over one shoulder and his yoga mat over the other.

Gary JantziGary Jantzi in an Auctioneer in Kitchener Waterloo and this photograph was the lead in a series of photos that appeared in The Grand Magazine. Gary was auctioning of the contents of a Kitchener house and this made a great story to tell. Photography has always taken me to places I would not have expected,

Chris Floyd Chris Floyd is in the Insurance business an this is another example of a executive portrait. I was given about a half hour to get in and get the shot handled. Using two lights I was able to get a dynamic shot of Chris.

Wendy FifieldWendy Fifield is a Kitchener resident who was downsizing and moving to another city. Wendy is an amazing gardener and in her backyard she had a type of willow tree that her mother had planted, an amazing curly kind of willow that grew very tall. Wendy was attached to this tree because it reminded her of her mother, so she was going to take some clippings to restart the willow at her new home. The perfect kind of story to send a photographer over to record the event. This photo was taken for the Grand Magazine and Wendy kindly gave me some clippings which are now quite large trees in my backyard. Nice to meet nice people.

I took Michael outside and photographed him around his condo complex and with the morning light and a fill flash I produced this image.

Dr. Lee was a good collaborator in this photograph as he was quite willing to climb up on a ledge so that the background would work better.

Brooke LogalI photographed Brooke for The Grand Magazine. Brooke was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes at age five but through good nutrition and a passion for soccer she has her life threatening disease under control. Brooke was seventeen when I took this photo of her in her parents front yard just having received a full athletic scholarship to Long Island University in Brooklyn NY. Well on her way to to a collegiate soccer career. Meeting people like Brooke is why I am very passionate about photography and very excited about were this path will continue to take me.

BuskerThis is a photo of a busker I shot on a Toronto street with a very busy background. The background I used in this composite was photographed in Cambridge Ontario. It's a very exciting time when you can manipulate images to whatever you want especially coming from a day were an image like this was usually cut out and pasted together using scissors.
